Blackjack Hit Or Stand
The game of blackjack is dependent on whether to stand or take a hit. When you choose to stand no more cards are dealt to you. If you choose hit then a third card is dealt to you. Depending on this third card you can again choose to stand or take another hit. This goes on till you choose to stand or go bust.
Given below is a guide that tells you whether you should take a hit or opt for stand depending on your card value and the value of the face up card of the dealer.
If your card value is 17, 18, 19, 20 or 21 you should opt for stand no matter what the face up card of the dealer is. Similarly, if your card value is 11 or lower you should opt for a hit no matter what the face up card of the dealer is.
If your card value is 13 up to 16 you should opt for stand if the face up card of the dealer is 6 or below till 2. If the dealer’s face up card is anything else, 7 up to Ace, you should opt for a hit.
If your card value is 12 you should stand if the dealer’s face value card is 4 to 6. For all the other cards you should go for a hit.
For the purpose of this guide you should take the value of Ace as 1.
If the value of Ace is counted as 11 then you should stand if your card value is 17 up to 21 or if you get an Ace and a 9. If you get an Ace and an 8 then you should stand if dealer has card value of 6 and below up to 2. Otherwise you should opt for hit.
For Ace and 7 you should stand for dealer card value of 2, 7 and 8; take a hit for values of 9 and above and go for double if dealer’s face card is 3 to 6. For Ace and 6 go for hit for dealer’s 2 and 7 and above. Go for double for dealer’s card value of 3 to 6. For Ace and 4 or 5 follow A-6 except when dealer’s face card is 3 where you should hit. For A-2 and A-3 go for double for dealer’s face card of 5 and 6 and hit for others.
